  About Foot and Toe Warts
 Warts
Verrucae are benign intraepidermal, highly vascular growths occurring on the hands and feet as well as other parts of the body. Type found on the foot is a plantar wart.
Sometimes may actually be corns or callouses, which require different treatment (see Corns/Callouses page).
Cause:
Human Papilloma Virus which enters the skin (epidermis) after injury to the skin (bruise, splinter, etc.)
Treatment:
Don’t risk “bathroom surgery” or use over the counter acids. The podiatrist can dissolve warts painlessly with topical acid treatments or remove them surgically.

Q: I am 52 yr old male...after exercising my lower body (cross trainer, stair master, and weights) my left ankle hurts the next day. I was diagnosed with flat foot on the left side as a child and I wear custom orthotics. However, it seems to have gotten worse over the years. What could be the cause and how can I prevent it in future?
